A newly developed esophageal pill is state tested as an alternative to traditional endoscopy for Barrett’s cover. This 2-sided photographic camera is identical to the anatomical structure now value for size bowel imagination. It is swallowed in the supine job and images are acquired at 2 frames per point in time from each side of the photographic camera. In the composition presented during this year’s ACG encounter, 9 patients undergoing Barrett’s surveillance and 73 patients with GERD underwent sedated EGD and complex body part endoscopy on the same day (additional patients were presented at the geographical point, augmenting the results). The images were reviewed by blinded investigators and compared. The sensory faculty, specialness, and photographic film and denial predictive measure of the seed vessel for Barrett’s esophagus were greater than 95% compared with EGD, with no side effects associated with the lozenge.
The upside of this study is obvious — unsedated esophagoscopy with little or no activity required.
